As his workplace was given as Oracle, I took a punt and emailed him @Oracle.com. Got a reply and it was him. However, since he's living in Chicago (USA), we shall probably not be meeting up for a coffee any time soon.

Finding old friends/acquaintances (#2)
Since managing to find one long-lost contact, I have found another. A guy called Ken from Tandem Computers, whom I worked with years ago in NZ on a big IT project (the Intelligent Network Project) at Databank Systems Ltd. - we were joint project managers. I did a Google search and found a reference to him in a couple of places, including LinkedIn, indicating that he worked at Oracle. I had lost contact with him since about 1985 or so - he returned to the US after the project had completed. I had tried to find him since then, but had previously drawn a blank.
